Register Now for COMS 2016 and Save Register Now for COMS 2016 and Save Register Now for COMS 2016 and Save July 8, 2016 Time is running out to register for the Commercialization of Micro, Nano and Emerging Technologies (COMS) conference at a discounted rate. Attendees who sign up for the conference by July 29 can receive up to $100 off the standard registration price. COMS 2016, which is being presented by ASME and the Micro and Nano Technology Commercialization Education Foundation (MANCEF), is a hands-on, practical meeting that is intended to help entrepreneurs bring their research to market, find new customers, and interact with investors, suppliers and other business people. The conference will take place from Aug. 28 to 31 at the JW Marriott Houston. This is the first year that ASME is presenting the conference in conjunction with MANCEF. The conferences, which MANCEF has conducted for more than 20 years, are widely considered to be among the leading global events focusing on the scale-up of micro, nano, and emerging technologies. The meeting is designed to provide attendees with the latest information on micro and nanotechnology transfer, manufacturing processes, facilities, infrastructure, investment, applications and markets. Regulatory issues, social implications, education and workforce development also will be covered. Nearly 40 thought leaders from the emerging technology space are slated to give presentations during the conference. Scheduled speakers include as Jackie Kerby-Moore, executive director of Sandia Science Technology Park; Michael Meador, director of the National Nanotechnology Coordination Office at the National Science and Technology Council; and Mark Zdeblick, chief technology officer and co-founder of Proteus Digital Health. Other experts scheduled to speak at COMS 2016 include David Blivin, managing partner of Cottonwood Technology Fund; Todd Christenson, chairman and chief technology officer for HT MicroAnalytical Inc.; Jason Hayes, vice president of technology and innovation at MiniFAB; Kirk Macolini, president of Centurion Technology; Sue Neuen, executive director at Science@OC; Bob Sachs, CEO of Team Technologies; Shail Sinhasane, CEO of Mobisoft; Bruce Swope, vice president of engineering for Sterling Medical Devices; Wim Van Hoeve, founder of Tide Microfluidics; and Elizabeth Wagar, chair of the department of laboratory medicine at the MD Anderson Cancer Center. This years conference program will also feature a Young Technology Award Contest and Boot Camp early-stage, high-tech entrepreneurs on Aug. 28, the COMS Student Poster Competition on Aug. 29, and a gala dinner on Aug. 30. ASME members and non-members who register for COMS 2016 by July 29 will be able to sign up for $795 and $945, respectively รข" a $100 savings on the standard registration rate.
